I don't understand why if you have a TM backup you could not restore everything to how it was previously. It's literally a seconds work to switch between Mac and Windows. The speed and responsiveness is only a shade slower than native Windows. You can run Windows as a separate system or integrate the VM so that you can open and run Windows apps directly from the Mac Desktop. That way you have the best of everything. There are better options out there for thatįorget Bootcamp and buy yourself a copy of Parallels. I have to say, that while I use MS Office on my Mac Book, I opted to stay the hell away from Outlook. So I've been in exactly the same position as you. Not only that, but it's still very handy for putting together videos using iMovie. These days, I just have a separate Windows PC for her but she's come to appreciate the Mac Mini as it's been running for seven years without any fault, and is currently our desktop box for VoD stuff.

All the DNA/RNA sequencers could only be hooked up to a Mac and the software was pretty badly written. My wife hates Mac computers with a passion, probably because she had to deal with pre-OSX Mac's at University and her work place. But that's because I do a lot of Windows 7 support and occasionally need to be running "real" Windows e.g. As it happens I have a second Mac laptop that I do run Bootcamp on. Wouldn't you be better off running Windows in a virtual machine (Parallels, VM Fusion, Virtual Box) ? Although I am a Mac person through and through, needs must that I have Windows (for Sage accounting if nothing else), but I find that a VM runs really well and it means you don't need to reboot the Mac to change environments. Having said all that I love the IMac ( and my Macbook Air). Like my wife I use Windows at work too so it seems to make sense to install Windows via bootcamp. Despite many attempts to restore a previous back up from Time Machine I have the same problem and have to start all over again.
